2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

 On February 17, 2009 President Barack Obama signed into law the American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The stated purpose of the ARRA is:
 

	To preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery.
	To assist those most impacted by the recession.
	To provide investments needed to increase economic efficiency by spurring technological advances in science and health.
	To invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits.
	To stabilize State and local government budgets, in order to minimize and avoid reductions in essential services and counterproductive state and local tax increases.

The City of Oxnard is aggressively pursuing grant funds through the ARRA. In some cases, funds are allocated on a formula basis and in others the City must pursue a competitive process. In all cases, accountability and transparency are of the utmost importance, and the ARRA includes many provisions to meet these goals.

The chart highlights the dollars allocated on a formula basis from the various categories funded through the ARRA. Many allocations are through the State of California and allocations to the City of Oxnard are not yet known.
